IF IT AIN’T ART, WHAT’S THE POINT?

Well, that’s putting it a little past sanity but paraphrasing Jackie Reeves, “People need art more than ever in hard times…”. Last night’s NAHS Art Induction and the Mural Dedication were very well attended. AND I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE ‘ART CAKES AND COOKIES’!!! Who can forget their first bite of Picasso’s ‘The Women’ cookie or their first taste of Escher’s mind-bending cake? Thank you to the students who brought these fantastic edible art pieces for the event. I hope the students feel duly celebrated for their hard work and community services hours. Thank you so much, whether you worked on the mural or did other community service. You make a difference! BUT….JACKIE REEVES, YOU ARE A TREASURE! Without Jackie and her calm and professional expertise (frenzy only happens within the confines of appropriate audience) this-the mural-WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. Also, a big KUDOS to Mr. Rigazio who probably does a lot more that he is asked to do because he knows it’s the right thing to do. So, for now, stop by and make a wish on one of the butterflies, or turtles or even the tie, for a great life made better by art. Remember….”I paint, therefore, I ART”
PS: I am still working on how to get the full picture in the columns…sorry.Just click on the picture for a full view.

These are photos of the ‘live painting’ on April 25th, Saturday. Lots of folks stopped by to comment and take a look at the mural. We hope all enjoy the variety of images on the stairwell mural. The images are meant to provoke thought, be fun to look at and take you places that only imagination and art can. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you on Thursday, May 14 at 5 pm for the Mural Opening.
